We will learn advanced peer-to-peer tricks here in common filesharing programs and present some useful tools.
INSTALL
The DirectConnect program should be configured to share minimum 40gb or more (better). Never share porn; games will make your upload big too. The best is to share something no one downloads-some rare stuff will be fine too. You can limit your uploads by Netlimiter additionally (same for other programs)
We will set hub list at http://dchublist.com/hublist.xml.bz2
If you have active connection everything will be better. If emule says lowid you have to configure the router...
We will have to choose proper hubs for us
Don't think Sweden hubs are fast; mostly they dont download at all.
It would be smart to connect as many of hubs of your country as possible (for subs, etc...)
More hub addresses can be obtained from these hubs main windows if lucky... (these are more private)
Next you will have to ask yourself what you are looking for. If you like high speed downloads you may consider Romanian hubs witch interesting seem to be good for downloading... thats my experience with FDX and Cell net.
If you like books, you will have to choose library, international socialist alliance, mystery hub etc.
If you like comics, house, etc type this in filter and add to favorites hubs with description.
In favorite hubs you will be able to change one hubs name
into "books hubs". "Books hubs" name should stand for books related hub list title. This way you can make lists of your hubs regarding your search topics. This way you can connect to all your books/games/some language hubs and search for your "book."Some hubs should have auto connect chosen to auto connect on startup. Some hubs won't be compatible with your wished connection, etc and may be removed latter from "auto connect"
DOWNLOADING
Downloading is simple... once you see someone who has good line, or good share add him to your favorite users list.
If you click properties in "favorite users list" you will be able to make description on this user.
I use "f56xyz" form
f stands for file list (properly configured dc should save these on hard disk)
5(1-10) stands for good downloading (he is enough time online and have good speed) 5 can be used as line between downloading or nod
6(1-10) stand for share (good share, how much he is sharing)
xyz stands for comments
As your list gets longer you will want to add an "ok" at the end or somewhere to indicate that you have downloaded everything from one user share, shared files are mostly changing slowly.
Advanced trick is to download from offline "favorite users" If you have file lists saved on the disk, just open them and add files to your download queue..Downloads will start when user comes online. You may also want to check last time seen online sorting before(and delete people you havent seen online for one year).
You are able to search for fast users in "finished downloads list" Sort by speed or file size to get competitive users.
on good users function match queue might be useful. In options you are able to set that users spam dont come to you (no popups-->go settings->windows->windows options->open private messages in their own window).
notebook in dc++ works fantastic, use it and you will see why (it has no save button, lol, it saves when closed or dc is closed).At least writes your popular searches in dc inside it (or even something more...).
Another good thing is to make several download directories, like 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and then start downloading in 1, after a while change download folder to 2. This will help with incomplete downloads.
Once queue is too long dc++ begin freezing and you should shorten queue immediately.
Once you learned everything on dc++ you will be download hero, dont buy too big discs to can keep yourself "intellectual material free" wanabe. If you want more security, download those security notes and put them in your share.
Take knowledge that lots if GBs lies behind shares and on private servers, etc so keep working on you to come to the elite.
There exist modified versions of dc++ that alow search for new download sources. You can try revconnect if you like that.
Soulseek is mainly for music and movies. But everything can be found using wishlist function!
Soulseek is simple to use. Main advantage for me is wishlist, Wishlist searches for
matches continiuously
e.g.:
like a virgin Madonna wav
will search for madonna like a virgin music in cd quality
wicked pictures 720p -mp3 -jpg -ini -txt -nfo -m3u -sfv -incomplete
will search for 720p(high def) quality movies from this production house
pause Red Light District -mp3 -jpg -ini -txt -nfo -m3u -sfv -incomplete thumbs -m4a
this wont find anything from "red light district" because it has pause in it so it wont disturb you.
Better than standard search "xxx" may be "orgy" because it is not so popular search (not sure, but search results are less corrupted for sure xxx is in every file name on emule).
You can add multiple entries in wish list that differ in little (va stands for various artist- these are compilations basicly)

You are also able to find books, game music, almost everything in soulseek. But your requests have to wait in wishlist for a while or longer...
Torrent is next generation of filesharing as they say. You will need your local trackers, trackers that have similar taste as you (similar as dc++ hubs) to do "torrenting"

bitme.org (invite only) books,knowledge,tutorials etc
plenty of porn trackers, template tracker almost everything
to find no invite registrations on trackers you can use torrent checker (needs .net framework), use tracker list too.
Problem of emule (servers go down,files are misnamed, music is damaged,etc.) are several. The other problem is that it is very low efficient. It makes a lot of connections but obtain little speed. Some rarities may be found here but most files have bad naming. Nfo files (open them with notepad) don't exist in emule.
This problems are reduced in above programs to obtain better ping in games maybe? faster web surfing?
The search in emule is quite well. But if you want to download subtitle or mp3 in 10second/1 minute use some other program.
Use imdb, allmusic, allmovie, wikipedia and amazon to gain information what to download.
Netlimiter will make you slow sharer. Your uploads will be slow when limited to 1 kb. Cfoss speed is used to give priorities to programs using internet connection. Useful specialy if you are playing online games, voip, and even web surfing! Both cfoss and netlimiter are useful cut they need some configuratin to make.
In cfoss speed put lowes priority to downloading programs. Highest prioritys to voip, games, http, etc.
Downloading cost (electrificity costs) can be reduced.
Close computer when not using it. Night time electrificity might be cheaper. ShutterDownXP will be able to hibernate automaticaly your pc at 5:59. Downloading speeds at night are bigger because people don't add new downloads and don't remove completed torrents.
Laptops are more efficient than stationary because they must save battery when not connected, when connected they save electricity.
